1946 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-024

Description

1946 WDDO-024 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. IN GOD WE TRUST, the date and the designer's initials have a close spread. The obverse is Type II and heavily pitted all over. E/W scratches cross WE TRUST, scratches extend NW off the chin, and a gouge sits right of the date's 6. On the reverse, strong E/W scratches cross IM in DIME along the bottom, and N/S scratches surround the right dot. NW/SE scratches pass through the B in PLURIBUS and above it, a strong E/W scratch crosses TAT in STATES, and E/W scratches run through the upper leaf clusters. John A. Wexler submitted the variety.
