Description

A Class II spread toward the center shows on the designer’s initials and the date. Lighter doubling shows on WE TRUST. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Type I. NE/SW die scratches through the 46 of the date. WNW/ESE die scratches through GOD WE TRUST. Long die scratch west from the lower area of the L in LIBERTY to the I of IN. Obverse Stage B: Doubling is much weaker. Short die scratch NW from about left center of the 4 in the date. Light die cracks in the upper rear hair area. Reverse Stage A: The reverse of this variety has the doubling seen on WWHR-001. Die scratches running E/W through DIM of DIME. Short die scratch north from the right upper inside of the M in DIME. NE/SW die scratches through the N of UNUM. Short die gouge south from the right lower oak leaf. Short die gouge north from the top of the lower olive. Reverse Stage B: Die crack from the rim at 2:00 south through the left side of the M in AMERICA. Die scratch curving down from the right side of the torch base. Most Stage A markers gone except for weak gouges from the olive and oak leaf.

  • None known Comments: This variety was previously listed as WDDO-026 but was reassigned after the discovery of the doubled obverse working hub left large “holes” in the listings.
