Description
A close spread on the designer's initials and WE.Die Markers: Obverse: Type II. Three short die scratches NW from the ear. Short die scratch extends NW from the bottom of the eye. Reverse: E/W die scratches through the upper olive branch and right of the oak branch.Submitted by: John A. WexlerCross References: None known Obverse Stage A: Type I. Die clash at upper nose. Die chip just below the bust north of the 6 in the date. NE die scratch from about center of the T, through the Y to the right upper fork of the Y of LIBERTY. X shaped die scratch, with a curving SE extension, in the field west of the chin. NNE/SSW die scratches near the rim below the 4 and 6 in the date. Obverse Stage B: Faint trace of Stage A markers remain. Reverse Stage A: Series of SE die scratches from the LU of PLURIBUS in the field ending in the area of the stem. Heavy die scratch from the R of AMERICA to the second lower leaf. Series of SE die scratches from the last A in AMERICA to the M in UNUM. Heavy NW/SE die scratches between the RIC in AMERICA. Reverse Stage B; Weaker Stage A markers. New die scratch from S of PLURIBUS to and between upper IM of DIME.
