1946 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-021

Description

1946 WDDO-021 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Pivoting at 12:00, a Class V clockwise (CW) spread appears on the date, LIBERTY and the designer's initials, and weakly on WE TRUST. Obverse Stage A is Type I. Scratches head SW from the brow to LIBERTY's B, and other scratches run SW off the eye. On Obverse Stage B, the brow scratches are weak and abraded away as far as the B, the eye scratches are weaker but still there, and the head shows a light die crack at its upper rear. Reverse Stage A: a scratch runs ENE through the center of the M in DIME, starting at its inner left side. Another starts at the lower right of AMERICA's E and runs through the R to the rim. From the last A in AMERICA, just below center, a scratch heads east through the dot, and a die chip sits between the oak leaves on the right side. On Reverse Stage B the Stage A markers remain, slightly weakened. John A. Wexler submitted Stage A and Kevin Flynn Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references. Its comments say it was formerly WDDO-028 and was renumbered when the doubled obverse working hub was found and left large gaps in the listings.
