1946 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-020

Description

1946 WDDO-020 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A Class V counterclockwise (CCW) spread from a pivot at 2:00 appears on the date, the designer's initials, LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. Obverse Stage A is Type I. Two gouges sit at the left-side junction (the ell) of the T in LIBERTY, and NW/SE scratches cross the ear at its upper center and upper left side. On Obverse Stage B the Stage A markers remain but are weak, and abrasion has reduced the details of the doubling. Reverse Stage A has WNW/ESE scratches through the D of DIME. By Reverse Stage B these have shrunk to one scratch, centered within the D. Joe Feld submitted Stage A and Whaden Curtis Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references. Its comments say it was formerly WDDO-029 and was renumbered when the doubled obverse working hub was found and left large gaps in the listings.
