Description

WDDO-020 on the 1946 Roosevelt Dime (Wexler Variety ID: 1946 10¢ WDDO-020) was previously cataloged as WDDO-029 before being reassigned after the discovery that the doubled obverse working hub left gaps in the original listing sequence. The doubling is Class V counter-clockwise with a pivot at 2 o'clock on LIBERTY, spreading onto IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, and the designer's initials. Two die stages (A and B) are recorded with markers on both obverse and reverse sides for each stage. The CCW pivot spread on WDDO-020 is among the more collectible obverse doubling varieties for the Roosevelt Dime's inaugural year. The 1946 Roosevelt Dime is a 90% silver Philadelphia Mint issue, the first year of the design following President Roosevelt's death in 1945. Collectors should update holders or registry submissions from WDDO-029 to WDDO-020, as all population data under WDDO-029 belongs to this variety. Two die gouges at the left side junction (ell) of the T in LIBERTY. NW/SE die scratches on the upper left side and the upper center of the ear. Reverse Stage A: WNW/ESE die scratches through the D of dime.
