1946 Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

1946 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946 Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling, a Class II spread toward the center, is on the date and the designer's initials, with a light spread on IN GOD WE TRUST. The obverse is Type I; over the date's 9 are short NNW scratches. A reverse die crack starts at the rim at 5:30, runs north along the I in DIME on its left side, then turns NW to reach the bottom of the torch holder. Joe Feld submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Its comments say it was formerly WDDO-039 and was renumbered when the doubled obverse working hub was found and left large gaps in the listings.
