1946 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-024

Description

Appearing on the inaugural year of the Roosevelt Dime series, DDO-024 of the 1946 issue displays light spread on the date, the designer's initials JS side by side, and IN GOD WE TRUST. Cross-referenced as FS-103 in the Cherry Picker's Guide. Attributed by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-026 and DMR-026, the obverse is designated ODV-001. Three progressive stages are documented: Stage A in early die state remains unconfirmed, Stage B shows the obverse at late-mid die state with the reverse independently listed as DDR-011 also at late-mid die state, and Stage C in late die state awaits confirmation. The pairing with DDR-011 creates a dual-variety die where both obverse and reverse carry cataloged hub-doubling features. John R. Sinnock's Roosevelt Dime debuted in 1946 to honor President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and varieties from this first year hold special significance as inaugural-series examples. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, this first-year Roosevelt Dime combines a recognized doubled die obverse with a paired doubled die reverse on the series' debut date.
