1945 Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description
Cataloged as RPM-001 (UVC-192, DMR-002) and cross-referenced as FS-501, this 1945 Philadelphia wartime Jefferson nickel shows a P/P/P triple-punched mintmark with shifts to the north and south. The reverse is separately listed as DDR-004, making this a combined RPM and DDR die pair, cross-referenced as FS-501/804. Three die stages are documented. Stage A is in early die state with markers unconfirmed. Stage B is at mid-die state with markers unconfirmed. Stage C shows both obverse and reverse in late die state. The triple punching is unusual, as most repunched mintmarks show only two impressions. Finding both a repunched mintmark and a doubled die reverse from the same die pair creates a dual-variety coin that appeals to collectors from both RPM and DDR specialties.
