Denver struck 37.1 million wartime silver nickels in 1945, the final year of the 35% silver composition before the return to standard cupro-nickel alloy in 1946. That thirteen DDOs have been cataloged for this single date and mint reflects both the production volume and the intensity of die variety research applied to the wartime series.
