Obverse Stage B: Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Long die scratch well below the second T of TRUST to the base of the bust near the rim. Die dot at Lincoln’s neck. Lathe scratches between the bust and the rim. NW/SE die scratch at the bridge of the nose. NW/SE die scratch to the left of the V of the designer’s initials. N/S die scratches on the vest folds. Strong secondary mint mark showing remnants of the curve to the north. Obverse Stage B: Weaker scratch at V.D.B. North curve of secondary mint mark almost abraded away. Obverse Stage C: Short scratch south from the rim between the first T & R of TRUST. Die chip in the field east of the E of WE. Weak stage A and B markers. Obverse Stage D: Weak secondary mint mark. Stage A markers are abraded away. Obverse Stage E: Very weak secondary mint mark. Most markers are abraded away. Reverse Stage A: N/S die gouge at the lower left inside curve of the C of CENT. Die chip (dot) below the upper curve of the C of CENT. Die chips near the rim between the I and B of PLURIBUS. Letters are abraded. Reverse Stage B: North by NW/S by SE die scratch against the right side of the O in ONE. Very short NE/SW die scratch at the inside upper ell of the E in CENT. Two N/S die scratches inside the C of CENT, connecting the upper and lower curves. Reverse Stage C: Stage B markers present but weaker. Reverse Stage D: Die chip near the rim above the dot located between PLURIBUS and UNUM. All markers accept the die gouge in the C of CENT, which is weak, are gone. Die chips at the lower opening of the N of UNITED. Reverse Stage E: The die gouge in the C of CENT has been reduced to a very small dimple. Obverse Stage A:
