Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team, the 1942-S Lincoln Wheat Cent WRPM-005 carries cross-references to CONECA RPM #5 and Coppercoins 1942S-1MM-005. Die markers span two obverse and two reverse die stages across multiple die pairings. On the first obverse die, Stage A carries a die crack above V.D.B.; Stage B is a circulated die state that would benefit from a higher-quality specimen. The first reverse die Stage A shows a die scratch below the left crossbar of the second T of STATES and cracks on the wheat stalks; Stage B develops a large die chip on the left wheat stalk lines. A second reverse die introduces Stage C, characterized by a die dot under the C of CENT alongside a second obverse die crack above and right of the Stage A crack. This layered history — two obverse stages and three reverse stages across two reverse dies — is an unusually complete operational record for a single RPM. Researchers should cross-reference the CONECA and Coppercoins attributions for additional die-stage documentation.
