Description

Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-512, this VarietyVista-documented 1942-S Lincoln Wheat Cent displays an S/S&S West and West displacement, indicating multiple repunching events. The reverse is listed as DDR-002, creating a dual-variety combining RPM with doubled die reverse. Die markers UVC-133 / DMR-014 track four stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with a die crack over V.D.B. at EMDS and reverse listed as DDR-002 at EMDS; Stage C with die chip on die crack between V and D of V.D.B. at MDS and reverse at MDS; Stage D at LDS (unconfirmed). The evolving die crack over Brenner's designer initials, progressing from a crack at EMDS to a crack with die chip at MDS, documents structural deterioration in the truncation area. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, struck at the San Francisco Mint during early WWII.
