1942 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-011 / RPM-012

Description

Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-512, RPM-012, which Wexler numbers WRPM-011, is a 1942-S Lincoln wheat cent whose repunched mintmark VarietyVista describes as S/S&S West and West and Wexler as S/S West & S West. Wexler writes the Cherrypickers number FS-01-1942S-512 (018.93). Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties gives two obverse markers: two scratches heading ESE off the E in WE at its upper right, and a crack along the base of the bust. The reverse is a doubled die that Wexler lists as 1942-S WDDR-001, with extra thickness on both wheat ears, the dots and E PLURIBUS UNUM. James C. Moreland submitted it. CONECA lists it as RPM #12 and Coppercoins as 1942S-1MM-012, and Wexler notes that Brian Ribar took the die marker photos for the Wexler RPM Files. VarietyVista credits Michael L. Ellis with the report and lists the reverse as DDR-002. Under its marker codes UVC-133 and DMR-014, early stage A and late stage D are unconfirmed. Stage B has a crack over V.D.B. and the reverse listed as DDR-002, both in an early-middle die state. In stage C a die chip sits on that crack between the V and D of V.D.B., in a middle state, and the reverse is also middle.
