1942 Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007

Description

1942 WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 1942 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. The spread is a close Class I, clockwise (CW), on LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, the ribbon's bottom and the date. On the obverse, a small gouge (dot) sits just over the U in TRUST, on its left side. On the reverse, a small gouge lies left of the first U in UNUM at its bottom, and another small gouge sits just beneath the bottom edge of the wreath. One crack crosses the middle of RIBUS and reaches the left wing's top, and another runs WNW from the top of the Q in QUARTER, which it crosses, to the right wing's bottom. Tony Russo submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
