1942 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

1942-D WDDR-010 is a doubled die reverse on the 1942-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The right wheat shows light separation lines. Obverse: a series of swirling scratches behind the bust's truncation; strong concentric scratches at the rim above IN and GOD and below the bust; a vertical scratch rising from the top of LIBERTY's L; a diagonal scratch right of the eye; and a series of diagonal scratches among TRUST's RUS. Reverse: an area of die damage NW of CENT's C; die damage at both places where the vertical and horizontal bars of ONE's E meet; a dot along the SW edge of OF's O; and a dot well below PLURIBUS' B. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references, and notes that this die resembles 1942-D 1¢ WDDR-003 but that each has prominent markers showing they are different dies.
