1942 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-007

Description

1942-D WDDR-007 is a doubled die reverse on the 1942-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Both wheat tips and E PLURIBUS UNUM show medium extra thickness. Obverse: a series of scratches running north from the rim NE of the date's 2; a series of three gouges SE of the bowtie; a series of scratches heading northeast from the upper forehead; a vertical scratch in the field right of the top of LIBERTY's Y; a series of faded diagonal scratches under GOD's G; a light vertical scratch rising from the bridge of the nose; a gouge leaving the rim toward the lower bust, to the VDB initials' left; and a series of concentric scratches between the rim and the lower bust. Reverse: die damage around PLURIBUS' first U; areas of die damage along the lower right edge of ONE's O; scattered die damage between the bottoms of CENT's E and N; a mostly east-west scratch linking UNITED's E and D; an east-west scratch in the field over AMERICA's M, at its right edge; and a gouge NE of the last S of STATES.
