Description
1942-D WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 1942-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling appears on the bottom right end of CENT's C. Obverse: a long scratch running south from the I of IN; a faded scratch running south from the GO of GOD; a horizontal scratch above and between TRUST's TR; and a scratch running mostly SSW from the bottom of LIBERTY's R. Reverse: a short horizontal scratch running west from the bottom of the E in E PLURIBUS; vertical scratches over most of the reverse; die damage at the rim northeast of PLURIBUS' S; a strong vertical scratch through STATES' E; and a strong vertical gouge through the lower left wheat stem. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
