Description
Extra thickness shows on EPU, both dots, and both upper wheat ears. The upper left wheat ear and some letters of EPU also have separation towards the center. Die Markers: Obverse: Obverse: Stage A: A die chip (dot) is present on the back of the neck northeast from Y in LIBERTY. Stage B: The die chip on the neck is still present. A die gouge (dot) shows in the field below the right edge of the N in IN. Faded die scratches show behind Lincoln’s hair. A long die crack runs NNW from above the eye onto the forehead. A horizontal die crack shows on the central forehead above the previously mentioned die crack. A die crack shows above the ear. Stage C: All Stage B die markers are still visible. All Stage B die cracks are stronger. Reverse: Stage A: A small die gouge (dot) is present to the right of the middle of C in CENT. A small die gouge (dot) is present just above the diagonal bar of N in ONE, near the right joint. Stage B: Two small die gouges show above the T in CENT. A die gouge (dot) shows above the O in OF. A series of vertical die scratches run through the E and P in E PLURIBUS. Stage C: The vertical die scratches around the E and P in PLURIBUS are worn away. The die gouges (dots) above the T in CENT and O in OF are still visible.
