Description

Cataloged by VarietyVista under its marker codes UVC-1069 and DMR-014, RPM-012 on the 1941-S Lincoln wheat cent is an S/S West repunched mint mark, with a second S to the west of the primary one; Wexler numbers it WRPM-013. Wexler cross-references it to CONECA RPM #12; VarietyVista gives no cross-reference. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties records S/S West, notes that the mint mark is the large S, and credits Lloyd Hanson as the submitter. On the obverse, a short scratch sits at the lower left edge of the date's second 1, and several scratches run south from the bottom of the chin. The reverse example Wexler examined was circulated, and no markers were detected on it. VarietyVista, also crediting Lloyd Hanson, lists S/S West in three die stages. In stage A the obverse and reverse are both in an early die state; stage B, a middle die state, and stage C, a late die state, are unconfirmed by VarietyVista.
