1941 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

1941-S WRPM-007 is a repunched mint mark on the 1941-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The S was repunched with a tilted (rotated) secondary impression (S/S Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, an east-west die crack crosses the head at its top; there is a strong die clash mark across the queue; a long, broken scratch runs along the queue's bottom; an irregular scratch crosses the front tip of the bust; a weak concentric scratch lies near the rim above IN GOD WE TRUST; and a NE/SW scratch sits in front of the eye. On the reverse, over the building's right side are north-south and X-shaped scratches; concentric scratches sit at the rim above and east of UNUM; a scratch extends south of the first U in PLURIBUS; a north-south scratch passes through FIVE's FI and the first O of MONTICELLO; halfway from the dome to the LU of PLURIBUS is a large die gouge; and a gouge lies east of the E in E PLURIBUS UNUM, near its bottom.
