1941 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004

Description

1941-S WRPM-004 is a repunched mint mark on the 1941-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies west of the primary S (S/S West). On the obverse, a short die gouge juts up from the D in GOD at its top, and under the TY of LIBERTY is a horizontal scratch. On the reverse, the mint mark is a large S; a scratch links the first T in STATES (at its top left) with the I in FIVE, running NW; and parallel scratches head SSE off the M in MONTICELLO, from its bottom right. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
