1941 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1941-S WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1941-S Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A secondary S lies south of the primary S (S/S South). On the obverse, a NNW/SSE die crack crosses the hair high on the back of the head, and another crack starts at the rim at 6:00, heads NE into the lower bust, and from there bends ESE. On the reverse, in AMERICA, a scratch links the bottom of the E with the R, running NE, and the lower T in UNITED has NW-to-SE scratches on either side. Tony Russo submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
