1941 Washington Quarter - Doubled Working Hub Reverse WWHR-001

Description

1941 WWHR-001 is a doubled working hub reverse on the 1941 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler files it under doubled working hub. Strong Class IV doubling, spread to the north, appears on the eagle's beak, on the underside of the arrow shafts beneath the talons, on the underside of the central part of the wreath, and on the leaf right of the right wing's bottom. Because the doubling came from the working hub, Wexler says the markers on both sides vary from one working die to another. Jim Lafferty submitted the variety. For cross-references, Wexler gives CONECA as 'Various'. Wexler's comments explain that CONECA has not yet classed it as a doubled working hub; instead it lists each affected die as a separate variety with its own working die number, based on that die's markers, and has identified at least 15 working dies showing the hub doubling. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
