1940 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004

Description

1940-S WRPM-004 is a repunched mint mark on the 1940-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S North: the secondary S lies north of the primary. On the obverse, a small gouge sits on the lower area of the lapel. The reverse is crossed by cracks: one leaves the rim at 10:00 and heads SSE to the left wheat ear; one runs south from the lower center of ONE's O to the upper left of CENT's E; one runs south from that E's lower right, through UNITED's D on its left side, to the upper left of AMERICA's M; a light one heads SE from the lower center of PLURIBUS' S to the upper left of ONE's E; one runs east from the O of ONE, at its upper right, to the upper left of ONE's N; a light one heads southeast from the O's lower right to the upper left of CENT's N; one runs south by east from the bottom of UNITED's T through AMERICA's first A to the rim at 6:15; and one leaves the rim at 3:00 heading southwest to the right wheat ear.
