Description

Obverse Stage A: Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Very heavy die scratch ESE from above the right side of the N of IN toward the G in GOD. Many lighter WNW/ESE die scratches throughout the motto. Three die scratches from the left center of the G in GOD spreading out like a fan. E/W die scratch at the lower area of the ear opening. Very strong, fully detailed secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage B: Stage A markers still present. Secondary mint mark still strong. Obverse Stage C: Stage A markers abraded away except for a weak scratch above the N of IN and a weak scratch inside the ear. Secondary mint mark is full but less detailed. Obverse Stage D: Very weak scratch above the N of IN. Scratch inside the ear is abraded away. Weaker secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage E: Small die chip (dot) in the field centered above the LI in LIBERTY. Scratch above the N of IN is very mushy. Weak secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage F: Die chip still present. Weak secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage G: Die chip still present. Very weak secondary mint mark. Obverse Stage H: Stronger die chip above the LI of LIBERTY. Secondary mint mark reduced to a weak remnant. Reverse Stage A: Two die scratches SW from the bottom center of the E in STATES to the last A in AMERICA. Three die scratches between RIC of AMERICA and the tip of the right wheat stem appearing to look like a “lazy Z”. Reverse Stage B: Die clash marks show in the area of the E in ONE, the N of CENT and the C of CENT. Stage A scratches abraded away. Reverse Stage C: Die clash abraded away. Light NNE/SSW die crack in the lower right wheat grains. Reverse Stage D: NNE/SSW die scratch right from the lower area of the B in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage E: New reverse die. Series of wavy E/W die scratches around the left wheat stem. Wavy die scratch west from the tip of the right wheat stem. Wavy E/W die scratches below OF and the AM in AMERICA. Strong die gouge at the right lower side of the U in UNITED. SW die scratch from the left lower side of the L in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage F: Wavy die scratches weak. Scratch from the L in PLURIBUS abraded away. Die gouge still present. Weak die clash marks running NW/SE runs through the E in ONE, the N of CENT and the C of CENT. The clash marks are positioned different than the clash on the first reverse. Reverse Stage G: Die scratches at the wheat stems abraded away. Gouge at the U in UNITED is still present but weaker. Clash marks abraded away. NNE//SSW die scratch inside the C in AMERICA. NNE/SSW die scratches through the S in PLURIBUS. Reverse Stage H: All markers abraded away except for a weak gouge at the U in UNITED.
