1935-S Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004
ErrorDescription
Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this 1935-S Lincoln Wheat Cent displays an S/S Tilted displacement with a possible cross-reference to Coppercoins 1935S-1MM-003, though definitive matching markers could not be confirmed due to later die state. The character of the doubling and mintmark placement is very similar between the two listings. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID: 1935-S 1¢ WRPM-004. Obverse die markers include die scratches on Lincoln's forehead between his eye and ear, die deterioration on Lincoln's neck, and die scratches on the lower bust. Reverse markers include die cracks on the right and left wheat ears. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm at the San Francisco Mint during the Depression, the tilted S displacement creates angular offset where the secondary mintmark is rotated relative to the primary, producing non-uniform separation around the letter.
