Exhibiting an S/S repunched mintmark displaced to the northwest, this 1935 San Francisco Buffalo Nickel is cataloged as UVC-161 with die marriage DMR-012. The northwestward displacement creates a secondary S impression visible below and to the right of the final mintmark position, providing clear diagnostic evidence for attribution. San Francisco struck 10.3 million Buffalo Nickels in 1935, a solid production run that ranks among the higher S-mint outputs in the later years of the series. The northwest direction distinguishes RPM-008 from other repunched mintmark varieties documented for the 1935-S, where various directional shifts have been cataloged across multiple die marriages. Fraser's Buffalo Nickel was in its twenty-third year of production, featuring the Type 2 reverse design with the bison on a flat, recessed plain.
