First reported by Delma K. Romines, with photographs taken by John Bordner, this Philadelphia Mint variety carries multiple die diagnostics. On the obverse, a small die gouge appears on Lincoln's vest south of the digit 1 in the date, a compact marker that aids attribution. The reverse shows a small die gouge appearing as a dot between the upper N and I of UNITED.
