Description

Cross-referenced as Fivaz-Stanton FS-501 (13.51), this VarietyVista-documented 1927-D Lincoln Wheat Cent carries the primary doubled die obverse designation for the date, where hub misalignment during die production created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. Die markers UVC-0019 / DMR-002 track progressive mintmark attenuation: Stage A with a strong secondary mintmark at EDS and reverse at EDS; Stage B with a medium secondary mintmark at MDS and reverse at MDS; Stage C with a weak secondary mintmark at bottom at LDS and reverse at LDS. The systematic strong-to-medium-to-weak attenuation documents how die wear progressively flattened the displaced D impression.
