1919 Buffalo Nickel - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1919 WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1919 Buffalo nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. A moderate Class V doubling appears on the date, the chin, the ribbon and the short feather behind the neck; the spread is clockwise around a pivot at or near 1:00. Wexler notes no obverse markers. On the reverse, a light, almost diagonal die scratch extends from the bison's rear right hoof to its rear left leg. Bill Fivaz submitted the variety, and Wexler's comments note that the photos were taken by Brian Ribar. Wexler lists no cross-references.
