Description

This 1908 (S) Indian Head cent displays a Repunched Mint Mark variety designated FS-501 (Snow-1). The original S mint mark was punched north of the final position. The 1908-S is one of only two S-mint Indian Head cents produced (1908 and 1909), with a mintage of just 1,115,000 — the lowest regular-issue mintage in the later Indian Head cent series. Repunched mint mark varieties on the 1908-S are particularly sought after by collectors due to the coin's already low mintage and key-date status.
