=1887-S VAM-3 Slanted Date, Doubled 7= Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. Revised 2014 3 (revised) III2 2 - C3a (Slanted Date, Doubled 7) (187) Obverse III2 2 - Doubled 7 at bottom of crossbar. Both 8's have die chips between loops; on the left. Date set a little high with 7 further from the rim than the 1. Reverse C3a - ''Die marker'' - Die scratch at top of eagle's right wing. DPIS –________. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: VAM-3, VAM-23, VAM-8 Comments: # The first thing you will notice is a high date, which is more dramatic than the slant of the date. # 1887-S VAM-3, 1887-S VAM-8 & 1887-S VAM-23 were all produced using the exact same reverse die.
