Description
1884-CC VAM-7 Doubled 8 Bottom, CC Tilted Left Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, May 1973. Revised 2005. 7(revised) III27 · C3e (Doubled 8 Bottom, CC Tilted Left) (177) Obverse III27– Doubled 18 in date. 1 is doubled at bottom and a spike of metal extends to left from left side of the bottom crossbar. First 8 is doubled strongly all along the bottom and on the bottom left of the upper loop. Slightly doubled profile and top of Phrygian cap. Horizontal die gouge back of eye. Reverse C3e– Large CC mint mark tilted left, but different die than C3d and without legend doubling. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: The gouge on the cheek is present on all stages of this obverse.
