1882-CC VAM-3A1 Doubled Date & Ear, Clashed Obverse n Discovered February 2003 by Mark Kimpton 3A1 III2 3 · C3c (Doubled Date & Ear, Clashed Obverse n) (177) Obverse III2 3 – Strongly clashed dies with n of In from reverse showing faintly on obverse next to Liberty's neck. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Previous die state is VAM 3, next die state is VAM 3A2 Prior to the damage caused by the clash giving VAM 3B, the VAM 3A1 dies were repolished. See large full coin photos below. This intermediate die state with the incused letter removed is known as VAM 3A2.
