1880-P VAM-5A Doubled Date, Clashed Obverse n & s Discovered by Mark Kimpton, May 2003. Revision May 2004 by Mark Kimpton 5A(revised) III2 4 · C3a (Doubled Date, Clashed Obverse n & s) (180) Obverse III2 4 – Clashed die with faint partial incuse n of In from reverse next to Liberty head neck and faint partial incuse s of Trust from reverse showing in right hair vee of lower hair edge. Possible die chip on lower left of 0 LDS. Reverse C3a–Two fine diagonal die scratches in lower part of eagle’s right wing. Same two diagonal die scratches in eagle’s right wing as [1880-VAM 10]. DPIS – Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: 1880-P VAM-10, 1880-P VAM-5, 1880-P VAM-5A & 1880-P VAM-6 Comments: Reverse shared with 1880-P VAM-5, 1880-P VAM-6, and 1880-P VAM-10. Although classified as C3a, the reverse has die gouges in the right wing.
