1879-S VAM-23 PAF, Die Rust Dots on Wing Next to Leg Discovered by Jim Baxter, July 1978. This is a Reverse of '78 (PAF) coin and a Top 100 VAM variety. 23 III2 4 · B2a (PAF, Die Rust Dots on Wing Next to Leg) (184) Obverse III2 4 – Open 9 in date doubled on left inside and left outside of both loops. Die markers- Thin long nearly horizontal polishing line left from junction of lower two cotton leaves, double polishing lines in cap fold. Reverse B2a – Latest die state has been further polished down.
