1879-O VAM-23A Tripled 8, Doubled 9, Pitted Reverse Discovered by Mike Faraone, October 1999. 23A III216 · C3a (Tripled 8, Doubled 9, Pitted Reverse) (176) Obverse II2 16 – 8 tripled at left inside of upper loop. 9 doubled slightly on left outside of upper loop. Reverse C3a – Normal die with raised dots due to rusted die from denticles through A of DOLLAR to lower right wreath, and in wreath above N of ONE. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments; # Later die state of [[1879-O VAM-23 (Exact same die pair). # Interesting.. The unpitted version [[1879-O VAM-23 is known with a reverse clash and yet the pitted version [[1879-O VAM-23A shows no sign of having been clashed!
