1878-P VAM-228-5 Broken Fourth Right Star, Normal Third Reverse, Line T Top 228-5 II 2 C3a (Broken Fourth Right Star, Normal Third Reverse, Line T Top) (179) Discovered By Mark Witkower Obverse II 2- Die 5 - Short diagonal die scratch line at top inside of T in LIBERTY. Die Marker - Horizontal die scratch just below rear of Phrygian cap. Polishing line at the central junction of the letter "Y" in LIBERTY. Reverse C3a– Die 5 Die markers– Roughness at top inside of wreath bow with single short horizontal line at lower left inside. Date position (DPIS): In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. Notes: Polishing line under the Eagle's left foot.
