1878-CC VAM-6 Doubled Leaves Discovered by Marilyn Tiernan, June 1970. Obverse discovered by Francis Klaes, June 1963. This coin is a Top 100 and a WOW! Morgan VAM. 6 II4 - B1b (Doubled Obverse) (178) Obverse II4 - Doubled ear and cotton blossom leaves on the right edges, date, all stars on right and left on bottom edge. Reverse B1b – Normal die of type B1 with very widely spaced mint marks, IV CC, set high and touching wreath. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: 6, [[1878-CC VAM-18 :Reverse: 6 Comments: # The 1878-CC VAM 6 has strongly doubled cotton leaves. # This obverse is shared by both the VAM 6, [[1878-CC VAM-18,. In addition to the doubled cotton leaves, the ear, stars and date all show some doubling. The leaves are by far the strongest indicator on the obverse. # Note that VAM 13 has a B2a short center arrow reverse, while VAMs 6 and 18 have the long center arrow B1 type reverse.
