1878-CC VAM-24 Doubled Leaves Discovered by Jeff Oxman, July 1984. This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM. '''24(revised) II6 - B1f (Doubled Cotton Leaves)(179) ''' '''Obverse II6 -''' Doubled cotton leaves and bolls on right side. Eyelash doubled at top. '''Reverse B1f -''' ''Die marker'' - Vertical die scratch in eagle's left wing opposite neck-wing junction. '''DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: '''24''', [[1878-CC VAM-24A :Reverse: '''24''', [[1878-CC VAM-24A '''Comments: # The 1878-CC VAM 24 has doubled leaves & cotton blossom in Liberty's hair. Note the alignment of the CC where the right side of the CC lines up w/ the curve of the bow to the left of the bow knot. There is also a dot of metal in the left C of the CC mintmark that is not present in [[1878-CC VAM-6 & [[1878-CC VAM-18. Although the Top 100 book claims the 1878-CC VAM-24 is more rare than the 1878-CC VAM-6 or 1878-CC VAM-18, it appears that the 1878-CC VAM-18 is actually the toughest of the varieties. 1878-CC VAM-24 is certainly a tough find in its own right!
