Description
Concluding the Liberty Head with STANDARD wreath reverse group, J-1013 was struck in aluminum with a plain edge. As the final entry in a six-variety sequence spanning three metals and two edge treatments, this piece completes the systematic matrix that defined each design group within the Standard Silver program. Plain-edge aluminum patterns represent the rarest intersection of composition and edge treatment in the 1870 series, as both factors — the exotic metal and the unfinished edge — suggest extremely limited production intended for the most specialized recipients within the Mint's distribution network.
