The 1868 Proof Cent Pattern - J-610 is a proof cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. This is the so-called 1868 large cent: the Braided Hair large cent design of 1840 to 1857, dated 1868 and made at the Mint for sale to collectors. USPatterns.com confirms at least seven examples in nickel. It is struck in nickel with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-675 and Adams-Woodin 702.
