Description
The 1868 Proof Cent Pattern - J-607 is a proof cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. Its obverse borrows Longacre's Liberty head from the nickel three-cent piece, wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, and its reverse shows a plain Roman numeral I inside an agricultural wreath of wheat, corn, cotton and tobacco. USPatterns.com knows only one aluminum example, the Woodside coin. It is struck in aluminum with a plain edge. USPatterns.com lists it as unique. It is also catalogued as Pollock-672 and Taxay EP509. Cataloged as PCGS #60819.
