Description

Judd-390, Pollock-461, is the seventh and final 1864 proof quarter motto pattern. This last variety completes the ten-pattern quarter development series spanning 1863-1864. Combined with the half dollar's sixteen varieties and the dime's approximately thirty varieties, the silver denomination patterns from 1863-1864 constitute one of the most comprehensive coinage design programs in US Mint history. The With Motto quarter entered regular production in 1866.
