Description

Judd-343, Pollock-395, is the sixth variety in the 1863 proof half dollar motto series. This late-series variety represents one of the final design adjustments made before the half dollar motto concept was considered ready for adoption. The cumulative experience of three years of experimentation had produced a refined design that balanced the new motto text with the existing Seated Liberty obverse and heraldic eagle reverse. Struck in silver with full proof finish.
