Wisconsin's quarter gained national notoriety for its "Extra Leaf" varieties — both high and low leaf positions near the corn ear — which generated media coverage and public interest in coin varieties. While the Extra Leaf varieties are die gouge anomalies rather than clashes, this TDC variety represents a different category of production error: the obverse and reverse dies met without an intervening planchet, transferring ghost impressions of each side's design onto the opposing die.
