About This Series

The first quarter dollar series, with the Draped Bust portrait and both Small Eagle (1796 only) and Heraldic Eagle reverses. Only 6,146 quarters were struck in 1796, making it one of the rarest regular-issue U.S. coins. Production was sporadic, with no quarters minted in several years. All dates are scarce to rare.
