About This Series

Half dollars featuring the Draped Bust portrait with both Small Eagle (1796-1797) and Heraldic Eagle (1801-1807) reverses. The 1796 and 1797 are major rarities with very low mintages. The Heraldic Eagle subtype includes the famous 1805/4 overdate. Al Overton's reference work catalogs hundreds of die varieties in this series.
