1972 (D) Eisenhower Dollar - Atypical Die Clash ADC-100c-1972D-01

Description

ADC-100c-1972D-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1972-D Eisenhower dollar, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is strong. Above WE is part of the moon, and the first U of UNUM sits just right of the E in WE; the upper part of the eagle's right wing shows in the field below Ike's lip. The cleft above Ike's chin left a mark in the field that separates the eagle's right wing from the moon, and the underside of his chin left another. The die can be recognized by its doubled die obverse, CONECA DDO-004: IN GOD WE TRUST shows distortion and notching, and the 1 of the date reveals that it is actually tripled. The coin is in Chuck Fantasia's collection.
