Cataloged by MadDieClashes as TDC-100c-1972D-01, this 1972-D Eisenhower Dollar displays the characteristic talon mark on Ike's forehead — a transfer from the reverse eagle's claw during a clash event. What elevates this beyond a routine clash is the presence of a doubled die on both the obverse and reverse, combining two distinct manufacturing anomalies on a single coin. The reverse shows a light clash mark just above the AR of DOLLAR, documenting the obverse portrait's transfer onto the reverse die. Additionally, notching appears on the lower left serif of the B in LIBERTY on the obverse, and on the upper and lower serifs of the E and R of AMERICA on the reverse — evidence of the doubled die component rather than the clash itself. The 1972-D Eisenhower Dollar was struck in copper-nickel clad at Denver during the early years of Frank Gasparro's design.
