Die staging is partially confirmed: Stage A is an early die state (EDS, unconfirmed); Stage B (early mid-die state) carries a light die crack and small die chip on the forehead, a light die crack running north through the middle of the W in WE, and a light die crack on the upper left shield edge; Stage C is a late die state (LDS, unconfirmed). Stage B die cracks are the most useful identification markers, appearing on coins already showing the doubled LIBERTY. The Union Shield reverse's horizontal stripes readily channel die crack propagation on this post-2010 issue.
